The Sustainability Codex is is an open database free available for organizations, consumers and governmental organizations in the world to check the sustainability rates of organizations, products and brands. The Codex connects organizations and consumers that want to make sustainable purchases to sustainable suppliers & products.

QR code & RFID

Producers and suppliers trace and count every item they distribute with the Sustainability Codex. It’s time to share that information with everyone. Consumers & costumers scan a QR code linked to the Sustainability Codex organisation page or printed on a RFID label and their smartphone browser opens the ‘Sustainability Codex’ website with product information, photos, descriptions and composition values of a product.

Consumers want to know where the products their buying are coming from, how it is produced, who the producer is and how it arrived in their house: in short, they want to understand the supply chain in simplefied terms. People are also willing to pay higher prices for a product which shares all that information.

These expectations can now be met by traceability system based on Blockchain technologie integrated with radio frequency identification (RFID), which is used to track and record data about the product through the ‘internetof things’ with the Sustainability Codex. The Codex presents this information to the consumer through their smartphone, tablet or laptop.

How it works

The Sustainability Codex helps consumers, organizations and governmental institutions with sustainable purchasing. The Sustainability Codex values the sustainable performances and processes of suppliers on 4 core themes ofsustainability: CSR, MVI, CO2 & Circular Economy. The Sustainability Codex unlocks this information in an online database. Clear, comparable and reliable, because the Codex measures at standard level, which means that based on the achieved certifications of an organization the Codex gives an overall score on the 4 themes.
The Sustainability Codex integrated the Global Sustainable Metastandard that is based on existing international accepted sustainability standards on organization level:

The existing international accepted standards the GSM and Sustainability Codex are based on are:

  • ISO 26000
  • ISO 20400
  • ISO14064-1 & PEF
  • BS 8001

For products their are 3 rates that will be shown by scanning the QR code:

  • Circular value
  • Environmental Performance
  • Health

JADE CODEX is the product, project and resource section of the Sustainability Codex. JADE CODEX gives a circular and sustainable value to products and resources. Basically we developed together with Capgemini a digital twin of the earth with all products and projects captured in smart contracts with sustainable KPI’s based on international accepted guidelines and standards. This is the first time that we are using blockchain and distributed ledger technologie for really make an sustainable and circular ecosystem to define the sustainable and circular value of products and projects.

The Sustainability CODEX and it’s online platform gives every organisation on the planet the opportunity to stimulate sustainability thru business and to support a circular economy. We need global sustainability data to get insights we need to change the value of products and to create a new frame of reference of sustainable living, working and consuming. That is exactly the function of the SUSTAINABILITY CODEX. It is the first free accessible global database in the world on sustainability data.

Customers attach increasing value to the sustainable value of an organization or product. The sustainability Codex is the digital database where companies (suppliers) make their sustainable performance visible to customers (buyers and consumers). The Sustainability Codex promotes chain transparency. And makes Sustainable Performance of your suppliers transparent and understandable. The Sustainability Codex does not prescribe any measures that organizations must implement, but is a validation at standard level.

Why we build the Sustainability Codex on an open source blockchain? There are several underpinning considerations for this:

Unlock material value
By making material value explicit through tokenization, significant financial value present as material value within manufactured products is unlocked

The origins of a product’s components can always be traced back via their previous assembly configuration, all the way back to their initial raw material sources

The network architecture of an open source blockchain system enables the permissionless, opensource, decentralized and auditable qualities the independent CPF certification requires

Information and value is stored in a tamper-proof blockchain which provides certainty that no malicious actor can alter, corrupt or steal the digitalized circular value of products.
